Merriam-Webster added more than 1,000 new words to the dictionary, finally giving legitimacy to the practices of binge-watching TV and cutting off contact with a date by acting as a "ghost".

The list of new words includes "face-palm," or smashing your hand to your face in a show of embarrassment, the practice of crashing someone's photo with a "photobomb," and the ever-skillful "humblebrag."

新增词条包括:face-palm(因尴尬而用手捂住自己的脸)、通过photobomb(照片炸弹)乱入他人照片的行为、极考验技巧的humblebrag(谦虚自夸)。

Throw shade: This is a slang term for criticizing someone subtly or indirectly.

First world problem: This is a common expression used to describe when someone privileged is having a trivial crisis. A perfect example would be when someone's Facebook page is having trouble loading.

"The words range from the scientific to the conversational, and have all been added to the dictionary because they have established themselves in the English language," Merriam-Webster said in a statement.

This is the first time the company has freshened up website listings since 2014. The new additions come from medicine, sports, literature, fashion, politics and technology.
