北京将于明年1月起实施燃油"京六"标准
New fuel standards for vehicles in Beijing, the Jing-VI standards, will be implemented in January 2017, the city's environmental protection department said last Monday.
北京市环保局于上周一通报，北京将于明年1月起实施新的车用燃油标准--"京六"标准。The new standards are aimed at reducing the emission of volatile organic compounds, cutting the formation of PM2.5 and ozone, according to the department.
北京市环保局称，油品新标准旨在降低挥发性有机物排放，减少PM2.5的形成和臭氧的生成。The improvement of fuel quality will also bring down the emission of particles and nitrogen oxide (氮氧化合物), the department said.

For gasoline-powered cars, the new fuel will cut about 10% of particle emissions, and another 10% of non-methane organic gas and nitrogen oxide, said Li Kunsheng with the department, adding that diesel vehicles will also emit less pollutants.
