周三早上，河南省濮阳县一所小学发生踩踏事故，造成2名学生死亡，另有超过20名学生受伤。

当地官员表示，濮阳县第三实验小学发生的踩踏事故已造成2名学生死亡，其中1人在送往医院途中死亡（died on the way to hospital），1人抢救无效去世（died after medical treatment failed），另有5人重伤（badly wounded）。受伤学生已全部送往医院救治（all the injured receiving treatment）。
濮阳县第三实验小学校长（principal）目前已被免职（remove）。
濮阳县政府发布通报称，经初步查明，事故发生原因是课间时间较短，学生集中去厕所（a large number of students gathering in a bathroom），拥堵导致踩踏（stampede）。而此前有报道称厕所坍塌（bathroom collapsing）引发踩踏事故。
该学校一名老师表示，事故发生在上午8点30分左右，为准备即将开始的月考（monthly examinations），学生在10分钟休息时间（10-minute break）冲去厕所（rushed to the toilet），随后出现混乱，导致踩踏事故。上述教师称，事发后，月考即行取消（cancel）。
一名家长表示，这场悲剧突出说明了安全意识的缺乏（a lack of safety awareness）。学校的责任是提供安全的环境（provide a safe environment）。
关于踩踏发生原因，目前仍在调查中（investigation into the incident is ongoing）。
